The fish looks cross, as no doubt it had every right to be..
Martin Robbins: We asked him to say "cheese" grin
After this shot, we returned him back to the lake........
Man alive! Are you sure it didn't catch YOU, Martin?! I know the feeling of catching 5-lb albacore fish, and so can just imagine the thrill! I love seeing the image of you, too, and can hardly wait to meet you in May. smile
Martin Robbins: Without help from the guy photographed, to land the fish; I would've struggled, my net was damaged and although it did the job, it could've been bigger!
The albacore would've been exciting, they're like bullets!
It will be great to meet you Ginnie! smile

WOW.... congratulations... I know this is big to you. I am so happy for you. I would be scared to have such a monster on my hook.
Great pictures!!!
Martin Robbins: I wasn't expecting anything as big as this; maybe up to 10lb and I'd have been very happy smile
Thanks Astrid smile
Congratulations, Martin! That is one big fish. If it is edible, I hope you have a big platter at home. The fish is really beautiful too so perhaps you are going to have it mounted.
Martin Robbins: Thanks very much Mary smile You're not going to believe this, but I returned the fish back to the lake alive grin

Mmmm, I would be able to make about 50 big pots of pickled fish from that one. Would take me the whole day and probably use up about 3 big bags (@ 20 middle size onions per bag) of onions.

Quite an event in one's life when you land one like this. Congratulations.
Martin Robbins: Thanks very much Louis smile
You're right.......now and again a whopper comes out, but it's not the norm. This one went back to the lake.......to be caught another day wink

Now that's a biggun'! The fish does not seem to share the same joy as you did catching it wink
Martin Robbins: I was surprised, when it jumped as I was reeling him in........I got a quick preview of how big he was! I'm sure he wasn't happy, but we returned him as soon as we'd taken some shots wink
nice to see you Martin. must have put up some tremendous resistance
Martin Robbins: The common carp are good fighters...........thanks Ayush smile
Woo > he's a big catch!! Wonderful pix to put on the wall instead of the fish. I'm quite happy you put him back in the water. : ) He almost looks like a pet fish. ; )
Martin Robbins: I'd be OK to kill him if it was for food; the photo is a good 'trophy' smile Thanks Jacquelyn!
That is a seriously big fish. Did it put up a good fight?
Martin Robbins: I was surprised, expecting something less than half it's weight! Yes, it fought well, the commons are renowned among the carp species...........thanks Bill smile
